Remixing Identities
Designing the website and identity, the e-Types team wanted to reflect not only the mentality of the people who work around the clock to put the conference together, but also the mentality of the web itself. Hence, the logo is dynamic and ever-changing, abstract and playful - designed to be hacked, pulled apart, mutated and remixed like the media itself. "We were faced with a lot of choices as to what we wanted to convey in the overall identity. New media embodies so many cultures, each with their own aesthetic - everything from the 8-bit graphics of the garage programmer to the super-slick hyper-modernism of corporations like Apple. Finally we settled on a more elegant feel than many of the more "tinker-based" conferences without wanting to give up on the pioneer essence of the fathers of modern media. Partly because we wanted to convey that New Media Days has grown up and become a serious contender among the many different conferences out there. Partly because we wanted to express the quality of the event and the caliber of the speakers. This also inspired the golden color scheme, because we believe that conferences like this - where people meet across fields and big business and start-ups come together to inspire each other - have the ability to open up new roads and new ideas, and that is truly golden!" explains Mathias Jespersen, Senior Designer at e-Types.

Starting Conversations
Apart from the identity itself, e-Types oversaw the development of the function and design of the New Media Days website. Creating the website was really a question of opening up to the myriads of voices out there - integrating their opinions into the basic function of the website to create a platform that could support dialogue around the content provided by New Media Days. Dialogue that could morph, evolve and ultimately inspire new conversations. Quickly this became the guiding principal in the design - making twitter and other social media a priority in the build and development of the site.

The new identity and website was launched in conjunction with New Media Days 2009.
