There's no news about old news
Old News is an art project initiated by Jacob Fabricius, director at Malmö Konsthall. Old News is free newspaper presenting a selection of articles, images and words clipped from newspapers. the
articles taht appear in this newspaper were all cut by individual artist for the purpose of redistributing the news. e-Types designed Old News NO.6 containing an exchange between 62 artists.
Creating the design and lay-out for Old News NO.6, we wanted to stay true to the original curatorial concept; an exchange between 31 Malmö related artists and 31 Lagos related artists,
completed in 31 days in August 2009. Using the timeframe as a central reference, Old News NO.6 is designed to be pulled apart, creating a calendar-like structure, allowing the reader to follow
the exchange between nations and artists day-by-day, as they happened during that month, keeping the evolution of the dialog intact.
Furthermore, we attempted to stay true to the artists' selection of cuttings. Some pieces are short, others longer - which causes them to spill out on to several spreads. The end result is akin
to a fragmented collage, where it is sometimes necessary to rearrange and piece together several pages to follow the full narrative.
Old News NO.6 will be featured at exhibitions around the world during the coming years. We designed Old News NO.6 specifically for that purpose, allowing the exhibitors to display the work in
its entirety through the ripped-apart calendar structure. Finally, you can remove the cover, introductory notes and artist presentations and use them as a catalogue.
