Sustainable Luxury

Danish luxury fashion brand Noir combines cutting-edge design with social responsibility. Bridging the gap between the World of the über-model, the über-wealthy and the über poor cotton farmers in Uganda sounds like taking it a bridge too far. But nevertheless this is what NOIR has set out to do.

Combine the competences of a flamboyant and charismatic founder with proven success in the fashion industry with a sustainable concept for cotton-growing in Uganda, throw in some of the best models, photographers and designers in the World and you have NOIR: taking on the World of fashion, challenging it to be sustainable and luxurious at the same time.

NOIR explains on their website:

"There is often a yawning gap between words and deeds, and this is becoming increasingly obvious in the area of sustainability (CSR). These hot topics have become notorious buzzwords, with many companies using the terms to present a politically correct image to consumers with money to spend - and increasingly environmental awareness, all too often, this positive approach is little more than a PR exercise ...

When Peter Ingwersen founded the luxury fashion label NOIR in Denmark, he was determined to make sustainable management a key element of the company's structure and as important as style and design quality awareness. NOIR was defined as a pure CSR label, although sustainable thinking in the high-end segment was typically viewed as a PR fig leaf at best. Expensive and sexy was generally seen as the way to go. And as for running a socially responsible business ... Who's got the time?

With his luxury eco-ethical products, Ingwersen - who has previous market experience as Brand Manager for Levi's Red and Vintage and as Managing Director at Day, Birger et Mikkelsen - has proved that high quality is not incompatible with ethical business practices ... In the sustainable luxury fashion sector, NOIR may well be the new black".

e-Types has developed the visual identity for the mother brand NOIR, for the sustainable cotton brand Illuminati2 as well as for Bllack NOIR - NOIR's spin off in a more affordable price range.

e-Types furthermore has created the campaign identities of the seasonal collections together with NOIR, designing look books, catalogues and invitations for NOIR's über-exclusive fashion shows.
