Film experiences on the net

Kino.dk is the new site for all kinds of film experiences - resumes, reviews, debate, trailers, news on film and premiers as well as central booking portal. By gathering everything cinema and film related in one place, making it inspiring to read about and easy to choose which films to see, kino.dk has the potential to be the Danes catalyst for film experiences.

The entertainment company Egmont/Nordisk film, who has a strong hold within the film industry in terms of film production, cinemas, VOD etc., wanted to gather everything related to film in one place and create a new one-stop site to fulfil all needs related to film - thereby increasing the experience surrounding the actual film.

In close cooperation with key executives from Egmont/Nordisk Film e-Types developed the brand strategy: defined the brand platform and expressed the mission and vision, and derived the name kino.dk . The name reflects a mix of the mood from the cinema combined with the accessibility provided by the internet -while being short and easy to pronounce and remember.

When developing the visual identity, using black as background colour was an obvious choice, refering to the dark room and the expectations in the cinema - and providing focus on the pictures, stars and stories presented on the white screens.

The simplicity of the logo emphasize the simple usability, and the form of the letters around the dot - o.d - has reference to film wheels. The logo is very versatile and can be themed for special occasions.

In order not to divert the focus from the content, only a few colours are used to provide navigation. We chose to use strong colours - orange, violet and cerise- to give energy and intensity and ensure an immediate identification with for example the orange booking flow.

The web-design was rolled out by Bysted, who also developed the information concept and architecture
